This was a good read, but this particular part annoys me to no end. As someone who jumped on a bus to go to Jena during the Jena 6 trial and laid down in a gas station for the Eric Garner murder and was ready to fail out of college to change the racism there, I just find absolutely no use for protests with no goal. It just feels like a temper tantrum. The whole goal SHOULD be to make a change: a change in law, a change in police departments, a change in SOMETHING. It’s the difference between people who camped out around courtrooms to hear Rodney King’s verdict versus those who looted businesses. I need there to be a game plan. Otherwise I simply won’t play.
