OK, you just have a positive, middle-ground altogether. I should’ve clicked on more content. I respect your Positive Patty approach (I had a boss who used to call herself this all the time — I always envisioned snarky Peppermint Patty). I get where you’re coming from with the writing optimism, but the one thing I think people need to do is stand their ground on salary. I have run up against so many potential clients who will try to undersell your rate. The pickier the client, the cheaper the client.

And it always blows my mind when it’s on sites where your minimum pay rate is published. I do a lot of work for Upwork, and I’ll get asked to do everything under the sun for $10-$12 per hour for something I’d never charge less than $25 per hour. But when you’re up against people from all over the country who will accept a smaller rate, I can understand where they’re coming from. And every single time, I’ll politely decline. You get what you pay for. I’ve lost count of the number of clients who circled back, rewriting their same job posts complaining about their cheaper writers who couldn’t do the job.
