I’ve been removing comments when folks say they haven’t watched the show, but yours is important for many reasons. I’ve heard this complaint time and time again. Tyler Perry is like that struggle boyfriend you keep trying to find the bright side of. I defended his projects all the time because he is absolutely determined to employ absolutely extraordinary women like Cicely Tyson and Phylicia Rashad (Cicely is a regular on “Cherish the Day”). I don’t even mind shows that show the couple working as a team. Hell, in “Daddy’s Little Girls,” Gabrielle Union’s character needed to be fixed. But I don’t think the “fixed by having a man” theme is a Tyler Perry “flaw.” Almost every film has that theme when it comes to relationships. I have zero issues with two people coming together to make each other better. My bone to pick is the excessive need to show women with bums.
