I’m still baffled by the two men mentioned in this post both being opposed to the idea of their daughters dating Mexican men. (I only brought it up with one and not the other.) But it’s bizarre to me considering both are Hispanic. I’ve heard of people wanting to “date within their own race,” but it wasn’t until the past couple of years that I learned about this distaste for Mexican folks. I heard the same energy with a couple of South American people, too. Although ignorant, I sorta kinda understood the “us vs them” with non-Hispanic groups. With Hispanic groups, it’s bizarre to me. But I guess it’s no different than the colorism debate — sorta.
