I don’t even know how to take this. I have complained before about police stopping me on my way to school a little later than usual because I’d aced a test. Other students had to show up earlier to take the test. Blonde white girl walked by me while they were questioning EVERYTHING about my entire existence. I stared at the cop asking me questions. I looked at her. He didn’t say a word. Years later, I still remember that blatant sign of disrespect. We were the same age, and she apparently was allowed to come later to not take the early-morning test. For some magical reason, no one thought she was cutting. But still, I never had a police officer pull out a gun on me and ask the white person/people I’m with if I was OK.
