I definitely see where you’re coming from with this one. The only reason I can’t truly follow this advice is because I absolutely love walking dogs, and there’s no way to do this without going to people’s homes. But even then, there’s a third party that knows where you’re going, what time, what date, the address, etc. As a previous reporter (now occasional), I’ve been to quite a few folks’ homes and studios at oddball hours. But again, the difference was that even the newspaper or magazine knew where I was going and when I’d come back. I’m not so much opposed to NOT going to a home office, but I definitely think someone else needs to know you’re there. Thank goodness for places like WeWork where this is less of an issue. Or libraries.
