I beat the breaks off my own arm. I hadn’t been in a fight since my high school years but quickly figured out it’s like riding a bike. You don’t forget. It was so wild shadow boxing in the dark, not realizing it was my own arm that kept hitting me back. Now as far as you and the tattoo, you already know I have mixed opinions. But I often wonder if I’d have gotten the tattoo that I really wanted — the open book with “live to write” — as my very first tattoo, would I be so “meh” about tattoos. A small part of me thinks I’d be more enthusiastic about it. At 17, I wanted any old tattoo more than I knew exactly who I was and what I wanted long term. If I’d have waited until I was 34 (I’m 38 now) like you, I for sure would’ve picked a better first option.
