I am happy for you for finally finding something that was all your own. I’m also so disappointed that entirely too many black women have this in common. I read your story and felt like I might as well have been in it. (In my case, it was the accusations of aggression, not so much the bumps/promotions.) When I bought my condo, I made a point of trying to find an African-American real estate agent and working with a lawyer/friend who is West African. Both female. Both powerhouses in their respective fields. One story that stood out to me was an agent who just got tired of the world of engineering and decided she, too, wanted to travel more. She uses her background in engineering to work in real estate. It’s interesting to see how people use their talents in other fields.
