Easiest way I’ve found to get past doing the dishes is to do them as you use them. It’s intimidating to see the pile. Makes me want to walk away. But if I’ve got a sink full of dish water that is ready for action, it just feels like “one dish” at a time. My parents do this for Thanksgiving all the time because everyone moans and complains about washing dishes. My father usually gets stuck with it because others have helped with cooking. He barely complains, but he also started making sure there was that sink full of dish water years ago. I took after him. My grandfather used to do it too.
